While strolling through Kennebunkport, we came across The Candy Man — a classic seaside candy shop. Salt water taffy is such a nostalgic coastal treat, but it’s not always easy to find options that work for allergy families.

Our experience

This turned out to be one of those small but meaningful travel wins. Discovering nut-free saltwater taffy while exploring a charming New England town felt special—simple yet memorable. The shop had that old-fashioned candy store ambiance, and it was enjoyable for the kids to choose their flavors without the usual concerns that sometimes accompany treat stops while traveling. Sometimes, it’s not about enjoying a full meal; it’s about the small moments that make a trip feel carefree.
